Edited by: Dark Flare on 09/06/2008 20:21:46 I get this now, it used to only happen when I decloaked after jumping through a gate, but now gatefire is doing it too.
Sapphire 3870.
I run in a window, so hard-reset is the only way to fix it :(
I should add that it only sometimes causes the freeze, the rest of the time it's fine. Goodness knows why. Doesn't seem dependant on time since last restart, time since last client restart, jumps done etc.

Originally by: KhaniKirai Check if you play with high cache.
I only use cache off or low, because i had those freezes as well. Seems the caching eve does is VERY ineffective and in fact is slowing things down after a long while.
PS: with cache OFF, you can get problems creating new char, so turn it back to low, to make an alt if u need one.
The freezes you get from the cache settings are usually related to memory leaks - I used to receive these freezes too. But these ones are usually recoverable by hitting End Task on eve.exe. Unfortunately the graphics loop freeze can't be solved in this way. Thanks for suggesting something though.

That's impressive, since the 3850 has not been out for a year.

Some sort of CCP acknowledgement in this thread would be nice...

I *touches wood frantically* don't seem to have suffered a complete crash since I upgraded to the newest Catalyst Drivers (8-8).
It could just be luck, it could be that they're better at VPU recovering. Who knows. But it's something for anyone who hasn't updated yet to try - hope it helps.
